LA CROSSE, WI – Grant Mathu has officially declared his candidacy for the La Crosse County Board. Mathu is a lifelong Wisconsinite and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in public administration and political science. Mathu is employed by Western Technical College, which is also in District 6. 

He was elected to the La Crosse County Board in 2020 and 2022. As a board member, he worked to deliver results on important issues while serving on the La Crosse County Economic Development Fund Board, La Crosse City Arts Board, and as Vice Chairperson of the Veterans, Aging, and Long-Term Care Committee. 

With respect to his record of public service, Mathu stated that he “wants La Crosse residents to know that he will advocate for affordable housing for renters and families, encourage meaningful environmental action, and help build a sustainable, dynamic, local economy.” Mathu also commented that as a board member, he will “continue to represent the interests and priorities of La Crosse County and District 6 with fidelity and energy.” 

District 6 encompasses La Crosse’s downtown and surrounding residential areas. Residents who live in the area north of Cass Street and west of West Avenue will have an opportunity to vote for Grant Mathu.
