Grafton – Small businessman and current member of the Ozaukee County Board and Grafton Town Board Paul Melotik today announced his candidacy for the 24th State Assembly District, vacated following the election of Dan Knodl to the State Senate.  Paul’s strong record as a conservative reformer on the County Board and Town Board along with his many years of private sector experience position him to carry on Dan’s amazing legacy.

A longtime resident of Grafton, Paul has successfully co-owned and operated ten different businesses during the course of his career, including the Fire Ridge Golf Course in Grafton, and has served on numerous business association boards.  These experiences have instilled in Paul an appreciation for the small businesses across the state that serve as Wisconsin’s economic foundation.  In addition, Paul has devoted countless hours to numerous youth sports programs and civic organizations.  He has relied on those experiences to become a key local leader on his town board as well as the County Board.

In announcing his candidacy, Paul issued the following statement:

“I’m proud of the conservative reforms I have helped advance on the Town Board and the Ozaukee County Board.  As the County Board’s Vice Chairman, I have worked tirelessly with the Board’s leadership to ensure we remain the best place to live, grow a business, and raise a family.  I’m ready to take that same focus and determination to the State Assembly.

Dan served as an amazing conservative leader in the Wisconsin Assembly and I am thrilled to support him as our State Senator.  He has big shoes to fill.  Alberta Darling served as a pillar of strength through budget battles and recall attempts.  I’m confident Dan is up for the challenge.

This state faces a challenge.  After eight years of bold conservative leadership from Governor Walker, we must continue to navigate divided government.  It’s not easy.  But we must be able to clearly articulate a positive conservative vision for the future.  Smaller government, less regulation, and a robust private sector are what will position the state for future success.  I look forward to talking to the voters of the 24thAssembly District about the state’s future.”

Paul and his wife Wendy are the proud parents of four children.  Paul has committed years to community service and civic leadership.  His family is active at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Grafton.  The primary for the 24th District special election is June 20 and the general election is July 18.
