[MILWAUKEE, WI] – On Monday, May 8th at 12:00 PM the Justice for Brieon Green Coalition will be holding a press conference at the Milwaukee County Safety Building (821 W State St, Milwaukee, WI 53233) in response to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office’s promises to the family of Brieon Green.

The Justice for Brieon Green Coalition received an update from Sheriff Denita Ball’s office several months after meeting with her. After making verbal commitments to the family of Brieon Green, the coalition was met with a less than satisfactory response. The following was sent to the Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression’s email:

  • The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office posted all of their standard operating procedures online, but could not provide us with the Milwaukee County Jail’s SOP’s citing “security reasons.” They did, however, say we can make an open records request for this information.
  • Stated a public town hall will happen “later this year” without providing an approximate date.
  • Cannot provide tours of the Milwaukee County Jail due to “pending claims and possible litigation.”

These promises that were made by Denita Ball were not followed through with and further proves that MCSO needs to be held accountable and must answer to the Milwaukee community. The Justice for Brieon Green Coalition stays firm in its demand that there needs to be transparency with MSCO and that there should be no more deaths in the Milwaukee County Jail.
