Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Labor Day is a time to celebrate working people, the labor movement, and all union members who came before us and fought for the 8-hour workday, safety protections, and many more workplace norms that we take for granted now. Our future and the future of our families is better in a union

Down on the festival grounds, we will be honored to hear from Elected Officials from all levels of government during our speaking program on the Henry Maier Festival Grounds. Speakers will include Senator Tammy Baldwin, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Governor Tony Evers, County Executive David Crowley, and Mayor Cavalier Johnson.

Unions change lives. When working people unite to negotiate for fair treatment and a living wage, the benefits enable a better life for entire families across generations. The modern labor movement is open to everyone and strives to leave no worker behind. By standing together in unions and organizing for a brighter future for our families, working people in every type of job and every corner of our nation are strengthening America’s democracy and renewing promise for generations to come.

On Monday, September 4, the Milwaukee Area Labor Council will gather to honor the victories of those who came before us, while highlighting the contributions of union members, and prepare for the important fights ahead.
