MILWAUKEE, WI – The following is the statement of Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley:

“Today, I am heartbroken to share the passing of my mother Valerie Crowley. While my heart is heavy today, I feel fortunate to have been raised by a strong, hard-working, and god-fearing woman who instilled in me the values I hold close to my heart each day.

“My mother was a remarkable woman who embodied strength, compassion, and support throughout her life. Her wisdom and kindness touched the lives of many, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

“Mom was not only a loving parent, but also a constant source of inspiration and guidance. Over the course of her life, she overcame many obstacles. As I entered adulthood, I gained a genuine appreciation for her triumphs over the challenges throughout her life. Her story inspires me each day to serve others and help them overcome the challenges in their lives.

“Over the last three years as County Executive, my mother’s love and encouragement served as a pillar of strength. She believed in the power of public service and her unwavering belief in me propelled me forward, even in the face of adversity.

“In the spirit of my mother’s legacy, I remain steadfast in my commitment to serving our community and fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to me. My mother’s influence will continue to guide me as I strive to make a positive impact, just as she always encouraged me to do.

“My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all those who have reached out with their condolences, prayers, and support during this trying time. Your kind words and gestures have provided solace and comfort to our family, and we are immensely grateful for your thoughtfulness. I cannot express how grateful I am to represent a community committed to uplifting their fellow neighbors during difficult times.

“In light of this loss, I ask for your understanding and patience as I take some time to be with my family to honor my mother’s memory and find solace in the precious moments we shared together. I kindly ask that you keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this journey of healing.”
