Abortion factors heavily in Supreme Court candidate Janet Protasiewicz’s first two TV ads, including one in which she declares it’s a woman’s “freedom to make her own decision.”

The Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge last week announced a $700,000 statewide TV buy over the final three weeks leading up to the Feb. 21 primary. Her campaign said the buy will now start today.

One spot starts with a voice over noting Protasiewicz has served as a prosecutor and circuit court judge.

“On the Supreme Court I’ll be a common-sense judge,” she says. “I’ll protect public safety. I believe in a woman’s freedom to make her own decision on abortion. It’s time for a change.”

The second features a series of women expressing support for Protasiewicz, one of four candidates on the ballot next month.

One says she “believes in our freedom to make our own decisions when it comes to abortion” while others says “extremists” want to ban abortion even in cases of rape and the health of the mother.

A woman closes the ad, “Judge Janet Protasiewicz is the change Wisconsin needs.”
