Yesterday, State Representative Scott Allen (R – Waukesha) honored Waukesha resident, Officer Herbert Davis III, with the Hometown Hero Award for his fortitude, courage, and professionalism in the events of January 27th, 2022, where he was wounded in the line of duty.

On January 27th, 2022, Officer Davis was dispatched to the area of 25th and St. Paul in Milwaukee and approached a vehicle with a man slumped over in a parked car. After calling for medical help, he recognized that the man was likely under the influence and asked him to step out of the vehicle.

The man then began to struggle with Officer Davis and drew a firearm. From the video footage of the event, you can see and hear Officer Davis yelling at him to stop. The man opened fire on Officer Davis who returned fire despite being wounded. When the man stole the officer’s vehicle, Officer Davis professionally called in his location and the description of the suspect. This allowed other officers to quickly apprehend him and provide timely medical aid to Officer Davis.

“It’s frustrating that the accused was predictably out on bail for previous charges despite several occasions of bail jumping,” said Rep. Allen. “This is another example of how our brave officers are being regularly undermined by the soft-on-crime judges and district attorney in Milwaukee County.”
