Madison, WI – Today, Rep Allen voted in favor of AB 386 and AJR 66 that would help lower taxes and keep them lower in order to help the average Wisconsinite.
Think of Charles who works as an independent contractor working in ride-sharing. Charles works hard and has two kids. Unlike regular W2 workers, he has to pay both the employer and employee portions of social security and thus pays a higher effective tax rate than a similar W2 earner. AB 386 will now reduce his tax burden from 5.3% to 4.4% allowing him to invest more into his business or better afford childcare.
Think of Thomas, a father of 3 kids, earning a salary of $55,000. What could his family do if their taxes decreased from 5.3% to 4.4%? They might invest that in their kids’ college fund or take that family vacation.
“Evers and the Democrats are lying when they say that this tax cut is about helping only the wealthy,” stated Rep. Allen. “This tax cut we passed will help the majority of Wisconsin families. If Evers vetoes this bill, we will know that he cares more about government bureaucracy than he does about the hard working families in Wisconsin.”
