MADISON…Assembly Republican Majority Leader Tyler August (R-Lake Geneva) released the following statement following the passage of the historic shared revenue and education package:

“The legislation passed by both the Assembly and Senate represents the historic deal that was struck between the Republican Legislature and Governor Evers. I’d like to thank Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley for their good faith negotiations.

The resulting package is a win for local governments, schools, and taxpayers.  We followed through on our commitment to lowering the tax burden by repealing an entire tax, while also empowering parents by expanding school choice funding.

The legislation now goes to Governor Evers to uphold his end of the deal and sign this package into law.”
