Madison, WI – Ty Bodden (R-Stockbridge) expresses gratitude to the bipartisan coalition of Wisconsin Congressional leaders for advocating on behalf of Sturgeon Spearers and Wisconsin’s sporting traditions.

Congressman Mike Gallagher led the effort in drafting the letter sent to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on December 7th, urging that Wisconsin and the Winnebago system be excluded from the listing of Lake Sturgeon on the Endangered Species List. Joining Congressman Gallagher in signing the letter were Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin, along with Congressmen Grothman, Fitzgerald, Steil, Tiffany, and Van Orden.

“I want to extend my appreciation to Congressman Gallagher and his office for their proactive stance on this critical issue. This is not a partisan matter; rather, it is a situation where science and history are in our favor. Prioritizing people, common sense over politics is crucial. I am grateful to Senators Johnson and Baldwin for their commitment to signing on and making it a priority to preserve the sturgeon spearing traditions of Wisconsinites.”
