Madison – State Representative Janel Brandtjen (R-Menomonee Falls) has issued the following statement regarding Kimberly Zapata’s court appearance:
“I just learned that Kimberly Zapata, the former Deputy Clerk for the City of Milwaukee, will be in court today to face charges of election fraud. I demand that she be charged to the fullest extent of the law and used as an example to deter others from undermining our elections.
I have never met, worked with, or had any prior knowledge of Kimberly Zapata. I would have been able to clarify this if the authorities had contacted me. However, it appears there is a preference for a cover-up in Milwaukee, as I have not received any returned calls from the mayor, the district attorney, or the sheriff.
The vulnerabilities in the MyVote system, which Meagan Wolfe created, could potentially lead anyone to become a victim of false accusations of ballot fraud. The system’s lack of username and password requirements, coupled with the ability to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to conceal one’s identity from law enforcement and the public, represents a serious security breach.
The impact of these events on my character and reputation has been substantial. I find it deeply troubling that a deputy clerk, unbeknownst to me, wielded her authority in a manner that could have led to severe consequences for me, including jail time, had her actions been successful.
I am not an election denier; rather, I am a victim of election fraud within a system that lacks adequate security measures. Regrettably, instead of focusing on finding solutions, I have faced bullying that has silenced my concerns. I will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, and improved oversight to prevent future election fraud incidents.
