Madison – State Representative Janel Brandtjen (R-Menomonee Falls) has issued the following statement regarding the comments made by Michelle Litjens Vos:
“On a recent podcast, Michelle Litjens Vos, wife of the Assembly’s Speaker, publicly chastised a victim of sexual assault for accepting government benefits while her and her family were recovering from the trauma of multiple assaults. To attack a victim in such a harsh and dehumanizing fashion is beyond what words can describe.
The fact that the victim is a vocal critic of her husband’s performance as speaker should concern every citizen in the State of Wisconsin. I call on Michelle Litjens Vos to promptly apologize for her cruel comments. Sexual assault victims deserve to feel safe. It’s time to stand up for decency.”
