Madison – State Representative Janel Brandtjen (R-Menomonee Falls) has issued the following statement regarding the shared revenue bill that passed in yesterday’s Assembly session:
“Last night, I voted ‘no’ on the shared revenue bill (AB 245). I realize a lot of time was spent trying to appease the Governor, Assembly and Senate, which is a difficult task. Somewhere in the process, earmarks overshadowed the intent of the bill, picking winners and losers. I do not believe the final draft fixed the shared revenue formula, nor did it provide enough guardrails to ensure Milwaukee’s new taxing authority is directed towards the pension shortfalls. I have concerns about the long-term effects of a bill with so many components and possible loopholes.”
