[Madison, WI] – State Representative Calvin Callahan (R-Tomahawk) released the following statement in response to the governor’s annual State of the State address:

“I was glad to hear there were some things the governor and I could agree on, such as continued broadband expansion and ensuring safe roads to travel on. However, I was disappointed to hear the governor would be providing the legislature with another expensive liberal wish list in his next budget proposal. The state of our state is strong, and that is thanks to the smart, fiscally responsible decisions legislative Republicans have made with Wisconsinites’ tax dollars over the last decade. I am hopeful there is still a path for the Legislative and Executive branches to work together this session. With that said, I can assure you that my Republican colleagues and I are focused on addressing things that benefit the whole state, such as fixing the workforce shortage crisis, investing in our local communities, and making mental health a priority.

“If any constituents of the 35th Assembly District have thoughts on things they would like prioritized this budget cycle, please reach out to my office and let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.”
