MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly met in regular session to take up legislation related to literacy. Rep. Conley issued the following statement in response:

“There is broad consensus that more must be done to support our youngest readers and improve literacy in Wisconsin. Education champions both in and out of the Capitol deserve a chance to constructively weigh in on how we best move forward together. While I did vote for this bill
because it is a step in the right direction, I am disappointed that Assembly Bill 321 was yet another bill fast-tracked through the legislative process without real input from those who will be most impacted: students, parents, and teachers. We have more work to do to support our public schools.”
