Madison – Today, Representative Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) introduced a bill that removes the prohibition in law that bars the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) from using their recycling allocation for education on recycling. Representative Considine released the following statement:
“As Americans, we produce a large amount of trash daily. We hope that most of this waste will end up recycled. However, much of it ends up in the landfill due to improper recycling. Our state must improve education about what can be recycled and how to decrease landfill waste.
“The bill I introduced today would remove a contradiction in our laws. By allowing DNR to use their recycling allocation on recycling education, we are allowing them to be more effective in their efforts. The public should know how to prepare recyclables and what is truly recyclable in their communities. This bill is one step closer to accomplishing a better recycling system in Wisconsin.
“Let’s stop wishcycling and ensure that our recyclables make it to the finish line.”
