Madison, WI—Last night, Governor Evers delivered his State of the State Address to the Wisconsin Legislature. Rep. Duchow (R-Delafield) issued the following statement:

“In every State of the State Address since Gov. Evers came to office, I’ve always looked for areas of bipartisan agreement. Now, at the beginning of his second term, I’m less optimistic. Constituents in the 99th Assembly District simply have different priorities than Gov. Evers.

My friends and neighbors in the 99th stop me in the grocery store and talk about crime, inflation, and education. They know the price of gas, a loaf of bread, a gallon of milk, and a carton of eggs. They know the basic essentials are getting too expensive, and impacting their family finances. They have never mentioned an initiative on climate change that promises jobs in the year 2030.

The way we deliver education is now broken, particularly in MPS. Crime is rampant, and violent crime is becoming commonplace. State agencies have massive backlogs because bureaucrats still haven’t returned to their state offices in a post-COVID world.

Gov. Evers, again, now turns to taxpayers to foot the bill to repair the damage from liberal policies. It’s not fair to you.

This term, I’ll be standing with taxpayers, students, parents, and workers across Wisconsin to limit government, keep communities safe, and create solutions that actually work.”
