MADISON, Wis. – Today, Governor Tony Evers delivered his annual State of the State speech. The speech highlighted the Governor’s accomplishments in his first term and his plan to keep Wisconsin on a prosperous trajectory. In response, Democratic Assistant Leader Representative Kalan Haywood (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement:
“I applaud Governor Evers’ for creating a bright future for our state during his first term, especially with the all the challenges presented during the pandemic and by eight years of GOP inaction. Our economy remains strong and is building momentum to create more opportunities to make Wisconsin a great place to learn, work and live.
“As the election last November indicated, the governor’s priorities are closely aligned with the people of Wisconsin. Protecting our natural resources and environment by investing in clean energy and improving the quality of our water are ideas that nearly everyone can support. This, combined with creating affordable housing and better access to healthcare will undoubtedly improve the quality of life for a large number of Wisconsinites.
“The Governor’s plan to invest in our workforce, small businesses and infrastructure is a steady commonsense solution to maintain our economic health, and build for our future. In addition, further investments in broadband, literacy, and more resources into classrooms will set up our future generations to carry on Wisconsin’s proud tradition of high-quality public education.
“I look forward to working with the governor and the other side of the aisle to create and find solutions that will improve the lives of everyday people and set Wisconsin on a path of sustained growth, prosperity and opportunity.”
