MADISON – On Wednesday, June 7th, Assembly Representative Jacobson (D-Oregon) released the following remarks regarding the group of Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) bills voted on during today’s Assembly Session:

“Wisconsin’s workforce development has been halted again by partisan politics. The bills that were voted on today will not fulfill the recommendations of the Legislative Council Study Committee on Occupational Licenses without also providing the staff to do the work.

“I support the Governor’s budget proposal to invest in DSPS and address, with real solutions, the workforce issues that were discussed today. Wisconsin’s labor force cannot grow if we starve DSPS. Ignoring stakeholders, adding further barriers to licensure, and threatening agency funding as was done today, is not a response to what Wisconsinites have asked of us.”
