Madison, WI — Rep. Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) released the following statement regarding yesterday’s floor session and Assembly Bill 245:
“When the legislature receives a bill or amendment an hour before a vote is held, I question if it is truly listening to the people of Wisconsin. This bill is no exception; it was not ready to see the assembly floor.
“Changes to our shared revenue system are long overdue; our communities deserve needed funding without strings attached. While this bill offers some funding for our communities, it trades shared revenue for local control.
“With the passing of Assembly Bill 245, the needs of our communities and local governments are ignored. Wisconsinites deserve a fair and thoughtful bill that listens to local governments of all sizes.”
