Madison… Representative Scott Johnson from the 33rd Assembly District made the following statement regarding legislation that will assist efforts in the interest of public safety.

“Myself and colleagues of mine voted on bills that will tackle reckless driving, a mandatory sentence for felons who possess a firearm, and mandating a prosecutor get a court’s approval to dismiss or amend certain criminal charges. We also passed legislation that allows DACA recipients to become patrol officers, game wardens, and corrections officers.

Our communities need to see that action is being taken to address the onslaught of crimes being committed throughout our state. The days of doing nothing are over. Much more needs to be done, but for now these are big steps in the right direction.”
