MADISON, Wis. — Rep. Neubauer released the following statement regarding the conclusion of debate on the 2023-2025 biennial budget:

“The budget that legislative Republicans brought to the floor today simply does not meet the needs of the moment. I could not, and will not, support legislation that fails to address our biggest challenges.

“The Republicans’ budget has major gaps in serving every community and every Wisconsinite. It wrongly targets diversity, equity and inclusion and our UW System and fails to make a host of important investments that the people of Wisconsin have asked for again and again.

“Wisconsinites deserve policies that ensure they have the freedom, opportunity and economic security to thrive — no matter where they live or what they look like. That means tackling our workforce challenges, increasing healthcare affordability and access, and meeting the needs of students at every level. The budget brought forward by Republicans today does not accomplish this.

“Our work as a legislature does not end today – the Assembly Democrats will continue to advocate for a better future for our state and the opportunity for every Wisconsinite to succeed.”
