Pewaukee – Today State Representative Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee) issued the following statement after supporting legislation to protect our communities:

“Protecting our communities is our most important duty as legislators and one I take very seriously. Violent crime is a serious problem in Wisconsin, and today we voted to reverse that trend. This package of bills does the following:

·         Provides transparency on individuals that have been granted, denied or had their parole revoked

·         Doubles penalties for reckless driving

·         Creates a mandatory minimum sentence for violent felons in possession of a firearm

·         Defines a riot in statute and uses that definition to provide appropriate penalties

·         Defines “violent crime” and “serious harm” for the bail reform constitutional amendment on the April 4th ballot

“Families in Wisconsin should feel safe in their own neighborhoods. This criminal justice reform package reinforces our commitment to protect our communities and keep our constituents safe.”
