MADISON, WI – Rep. Plumer released the following statement regarding Governor Evers partial budget vetoes:

“The Budget I voted for last week provided the largest tax cut in Wisconsin history for taxpayers, 75% of which was headed for the middle class. Governor Evers’ gutted our plan, nearly eliminating all income tax relief for Wisconsin families.

If a blow to middle class incomes couldn’t hurt Wisconsinites enough, the Governor also guaranteed an increase in property taxes for the next four hundred years.

By eliminating a much-needed income tax cut for middle class families, as well as drastically increasing property taxes, Governor Evers singlehandedly burdened middle class families in a year already rife with inflation and financial uncertainty.

I am extremely disappointed by Governor Evers’s reckless action with our taxpayer dollars.”
