(Sun Prairie) – Jimmy the Groundhog was once again the star of the show during Sun Prairie’s Groundhog Day celebration. Jimmy saw his shadow which predicts we will have a late spring.
“It was a lot of fun to join in this tradition and I enjoyed every minute,” Representative Ratcliff noted. “Sun Prairie is the Groundhog Capital of the World and we’ve been celebrating Groundhog Day since 1948. It cannot be easy being a groundhog in the Badger State and I appreciate Jimmy doing his job so well today and refraining from biting any of us.”
Senator Agard and Representative Ratcliff delivered the Governor’s Proclamation of Groundhog Day at the ceremony. They joined Sun Prairie Mayor Paul Esser, other elected officials and dignitaries at the event.
