Madison, WI – Wednesday, Representative Rozar issued the following statement regarding the Assembly’s passage of Assembly Bill 245, also known as the “shared revenue” Bill, and Senate Bill 330, increasing funding for K-12 students.
“I am grateful for the leadership shown by the Assembly and Senate in crafting the largest investment in local governments and schools in Wisconsin’s history. Every municipality outside of Milwaukee will receive at least a 20% increase in direct state aid, with additional funding being set aside for law enforcement, EMS, fire departments, and transportation. Additionally, AB 245 repeals the Personal Property Tax, lifting a burden on small businesses.”
“Senate Bill 330 empowers parents by growing school choice programs throughout Wisconsin. SB 330 also includes increases in funding for public schools by nearly $1 billion. School choice is a necessity because parents must have a choice to send their child to a school that meets their needs.”
Finally, the Assembly passed several bills to increase the availability of affordable workforce housing. Several of these bills change requirements to grant programs administered by the Wisconsin Housing and Development Authority (WHEDA) to reflect the current housing market. “Affordable workforce housing is an important issue facing the entire state. We must ensure affordable housing is available for growing our workforce. The American dream of homeownership for working families must continue to remain affordable.”
AB 245 and SB 330 now head to the Governor’s desk. The housing package bills await consideration by the State Senate.
