Madison — Representative Donna Rozar (R-Marshfield) released the following statement after the executive session in the Senate Committee on Insurance and Small Business. Representative Rozar is the author of Assembly Bill 114, the companion to Senate Bill (SB) 110 which unanimously passed the Senate Committee in executive session.
SB 110, if enacted as law, would extend the coverage of Medical Assistance benefits to postpartum women for 365 days, instead of the current 60 days. The goal of extending this coverage includes increased usage of preventative care services to ensure the health and safety of new mothers.
“I want to thank Chair Felzkowski and the members of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Small Business for their unanimous support of Senate Bill 110, also known as the Postpartum Bill, and recommending it for passage. This is the first step to assisting postpartum women throughout Wisconsin. As a pro-life legislator, I am proud to support this investment in our current and future constituents. Healthy babies need healthy mothers to raise them in that all-important first year of life.”

SB 110 now heads to the full Senate for further consideration.
