Madison — Representative Donna Rozar (R-Marshfield) released the following statement after the passage of the state budget by the Assembly.

“This budget includes historic investments on high priority issues for the constituents of the 69th Assembly District. Thank you to all who reached out to my office to voice your concerns. I applaud the Joint Committee on Finance for drafting a budget that includes historic investments in roads, agriculture, and education while cutting income taxes, property taxes, and shrinking the size of government. The positive impact this budget has on the 69th Assembly District will be felt in the years to come.”

Investments in the 2023-25 state budget include:

·         $285 million for roads through General Transportation Aids (GTAs), the Local Road Improvement Program (L-RIP), and the new Agriculture Road Improvement Program (A-RIP).

·         $7 million for soil and water resource management grants.

·         $1.6 million for cover crop rebates.

·         $20 million for local child support enforcement activities.

·         $1 billion for public education.

Shrinking the size of government:

·         Reduce the number of income tax brackets from 4 to 3.

·         $4.4 billion income tax cut across all brackets.

·         $600 million reduction in property taxes.

·         Reduce bureaucracy by cutting 793 positions.

·         Pay down $400 million in existing debt.

The Senate having passed the budget on Wednesday, it now heads to Governor Evers to sign or veto.
