MADISON, WI – Today, Governor Evers announced his investment plans for K-12 schools in advance of his full budget address tomorrow evening, Wednesday February 15th at 7:00pm. Between August’s first K-12 budget commitment and now, the Governor has doubled down on his commitment to putting our kids first and has added funds in many places, including science education and resources for English Learners.

On the announcement, Representative Kristina Shelton (D-Green Bay) states:

“I’m so excited to see the Governor’s continued investment in the future of Wisconsin through our K-12 system. Raising per pupil dollars and freezing parental choice program enrollment means that our public dollars will end up where they should be – supporting our public schools. Finally, I am so proud to see our Governor’s commitment to feeding all kids – free of charge to their families and guardians – through the Healthy Kids, Healthy Meals initiative.  Overall, the Governor knows that our kids are worth it.”

Senator Chris Larson (D-Milwaukee) added:

“Governor Evers has proven time and again that he’s willing to make the critical investments needed to support our kids’ education. The Aid for English Language Acquisition Program will create measurable positive impacts for bilingual students in our state. We also know that mastery of the English language and proficiency in reading readiness is critical to student success. Evers’ funding for literacy coaches and comprehensive literacy training will create positive outcomes in every corner of Wisconsin.”

The Governor’s full budget address will be held in the Wisconsin State Capitol at 7pm, Wednesday, February 15th. A live stream will be availablehere
