MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly debated the 2023-2025 biennial budget. Representative Lee Snodgrass (D-57) issued the following statement:

“The Governor, Joint Finance Committee and legislators like myself held listening sessions all over Wisconsin for the express purpose of hearing directly from community members, business and organizations about what they value, what they need and what they would like to see in the 2023-2025 Biennial Budget. It flabbergasts me how the budget before me today was so lacking in addressing the most pressing needs of the people of Wisconsin. While some budget provisions rose to the level the Governor set forward, it still largely ignores the priorities of the people of Wisconsin. Whether its affordable child care or housing, public transportation or mental health services, or strong K-12 public education— this budget fell too short on these crucial issues for me to support. I’ll continue to work on addressing these important issues in standalone bills with a hopeful heart that Republicans and Democrats can come together for the good to Wisconsin.”
