MADISON… Representative Shae Sortwell (R-Gibson) and Senator André Jacque (R-De Pere) released the following joint statement today following a Mishicot Village Board meeting, where John Tulachka was presented a citation for being named Wisconsin’s Firefighter of the Year:
“It was an honor to present John Tulachka with a citation recognizing his bravery and quick thinking that resulted in rescuing a family from a fire during a winter snowstorm. Because of his courage, he prevented a tragic event from turning into something fatal,” said Rep. Sortwell.
Not only does Tulachka dedicate his time as a volunteer firefighter for the Mishicot and Tisch Mills fire departments, but he also works full-time as a public works director for the village of Mishicot.
Sen. Jacque remarked, “It is encouraging to know that we have local heroes residing in our district who devote their time to the community and help make our neighborhoods a safe place to reside.”
