Madison – Representative Shae Sortwell (R-Gibson) released the following statement today following a nuclear energy reception with Miss America, Grace Stanke, at Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Rivers:
“It was a joy welcoming Miss America to Point Beach Nuclear Plant in my district. We discussed the future of nuclear energy, during which she expressed optimism for small modular reactors. She is even designing one for her senior project at UW-Madison, where she is majoring in nuclear engineering – an impressive resume already!”
“Grace believes these types of reactors are a potential option for nuclear energy policy in Wisconsin. They are safer and more practical than the traditional technologies of the nuclear industry. I look to promote small nuclear reactors within the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities and hope to invite her to testify in support at a later committee hearing.”
