LA CROSSE, WI – Ahead of today’s Farm Bill Listening Session in La Crosse, Congressman Derrick Van Orden (WI-3) released the following statement:

“As many of you know, our daughter Sydney was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer some time ago and has recently taken a turn for the worse. We have been dealing with this as privately as possible as a family.

“It’s been a very difficult and painful road for us. No one should have to see their child like this. Her and her husband are the parents of three of our young grandchildren and they are everything to me and my wife Sara Jane.

“We deeply appreciate all the kind words, thoughts, and prayers that so many of you have communicated to our family. We will be forever grateful.

“While our daughter’s health prevents me from appearing in-person in La Crosse today, I will be participating virtually and greatly appreciate my friends Chairman Thompson and Senator Johnson for visiting our District to hear from all of you in our fantastic agriculture industry. I hope you all show them a proper Wisconsin welcome.”
