Madison – Today, Governor Evers signed into law Assembly Bill 245, which helps local governments fund core services, gives Milwaukee tools to fix its pension, and eliminates the personal property tax. Senator Knodl issued the following statement:
“I would like to thank all levels of government that worked on this historic legislation. It took many hours and lots of compromise to get this bill across the finish line. I am proud to be a vital supporter of properly funding our local governments and supporting our brave police, fire, and EMS, who have committed their careers to our safety and security. I can confidently say that this legislation will benefit the entire state of Wisconsin for years to come with a record investment in our emergency services, public safety, and local roads.
“With this legislation signed into law, the personal property tax has been finally eliminated. I have been working towards this moment throughout my time in the legislature and it is such a relief knowing this tax will no longer burden our small business owners.”
