Madison – On June 14 th , State Senator Dan Knodl (R-Germantown) voted in favor of Assembly Bill 245, which helps local governments fund core services, gives Milwaukee tools to fix its pension, and eliminates the personal property tax. He issued the following statement:

“Today, I voted in favor of properly funding our local governments and supporting our brave police, fire, and EMS, who have committed their careers to our safety and security. I can confidently say that this legislation will benefit the entire state of Wisconsin for years to come with a record investment in our emergency services, public safety, and local roads.

“I also voted for eliminating the personal property tax, an issue I have championed throughout my time in the legislature. Although this tax should have been gone a long time ago, I am happy that I was able to vote to end it once and for all.

“Finally, I voted for a historic investment in education with the passage of Senate Bill 330. That investment includes the largest-ever increase in the school voucher program, which I am especially proud of. It also increases funding for special education and per-pupil aid. I am looking forward to seeing Governor Evers sign this into law as well.”

The bill passed on a bipartisan vote of 21-12 in the State Senate and 68-26 in the State Assembly. It now awaits Governor Evers’ signature.
