Madison, WI – Today, State Senator Brad Pfaff (D-Onalaska) joined his Democratic colleagues to call for a referendum on reproductive health freedom in April. Days before the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, Democratic legislators are introducing an effort to put an advisory referendum on the ballot in April to decide whether Wisconsin should overturn the 1800s-era criminal abortion ban and restore the protections under Roe v. Wade.

Senator Pfaff released the following statement on the referendum:

“Wisconsinites deserve to have their voice heard on reproductive health freedoms. These deeply personal decisions on reproductive health care should be made by individuals and their families without government interference.”

“A denial of public input on reproductive health is a denial of the rights and freedoms of the people of Wisconsin. I stand ready to give the people of Wisconsin a voice and protect the freedom of people to make their own health care decisions.”
