MADISON – This afternoon the Senate Democratic Caucus elected Senator Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) as Senate Democratic Leader, filling the vacancy left by outgoing leader Senator Melissa Agard (D-Madison). Assistant Leader Senator Jeff Smith (D-Brunswick) issued the following statement:
“Senator Hesselbein will provide us with solid leadership heading into a difficult and exciting year. We have a lot to do to continue the prep work needed to build a strong Senate Democratic Caucus and majority.
“This is a time of great possibility for Wisconsin. I look forward to continuing my work as Assistant Leader alongside Senator Hesselbein and all of my Democratic colleagues.”
