Madison, WI —Senator Eric Wimberger (R – Green Bay) issued the following statement after the Senate approved proposals that will dramatically increase funding to local governments, repeal the personal property tax and provide a historic investment for public, choice and charter schools:
“Today, the legislature took important steps to address the needs of our local communities. The shared revenue proposal will provide resources necessary to adequately fund important local services like police, fire, ems and public works and remedy disparities created by the old formula.
“Additionally, to build upon the investments the Joint Committee on Finance made in the Department of Public Instruction earlier this week, the Senate approved legislation which makes it clear that every child in Wisconsin, no matter where they go to school, deserves access to a high-quality education that meets their individualized needs.”
