MadisonWI —Senator Eric Wimberger (R – Green Bay) issued the following statement after the State Senate voted to approve the biennial budget:

“I am proud to have voted yes on a budget that moves the needle forward on important priorities in the 30th Senate District. As a member of the budget-writing committee, I championed the establishment of a dedicated $125 million PFAS Fund to assist landowners, local businesses and municipalities with the substantial financial burden associated with addressing contamination. This budget provides $50 million to build the De Pere Southern Bridge, fixes the Ray Nitschke Bridge, and provides new funding for training psychology residents – including residents in Green Bay.

“Additionally, legislative Republicans made true on their promise to return more hard-earned money back to Wisconsinites through $4.4 billion in tax cuts. We also prioritized our children’s education by providing more than $1 billion to public, choice and charter schools, and funded our local governments for the essential services they provide like law enforcement, fire services and EMS.”

“This budget is good for all of Wisconsin, and I encourage the governor to sign it into law.”

The state budget will now move on to the Assembly for a vote and then will be sent to the governor’s desk to be signed into law.
