Kenosha – Sen. Bob Wirch (D-Somers) issued the following statement after Governor Evers delivered his 2023 State of the State address:

“The Governor’s speech tonight set the tone for what I hope will be a cooperative and productive session.  Our record budget surplus and unprecedented rainy day fund have us in position to do some big things; we should definitely give a portion of it back to the people who helped us build it – the middle and working class families of Wisconsin.  We are also able to make investments in education, homelessness, mental health, PFAS and clean energy, and shared revenue, among others.  I’m cautiously optimistic that Republicans seem more open to working with the Governor and us legislators on the other side of the aisle than they did last session. If that’s the case, we could do some real good for the people of Wisconsin.”
