MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee County Supervisor Liz Sumner today announced her candidacy for the office of Milwaukee County Comptroller, the county’s chief financial officer, in the April 2024 election.

Sumner’s candidacy stands strong on a platform of fiscal responsibility, transparency, and collaboration. She is committed to ensuring the financial health of Milwaukee County, making it an even better place to live, work, and grow.

“I’m excited to take this next step in serving our community,” said Sumner. “I believe my experience, both in public service and the private sector, along with my education background, uniquely equips me for the role of Comptroller. I’m ready to navigate the financial challenges we face and work to make Milwaukee County fiscally strong and vibrant.”

Sumner chairs the County Finance Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. She is also a member of the Fox Point Village Board, giving her a unique perspective on complex municipal and county finance issues. In addition, Sumner is a businesswoman and owns SHOP, a successful women’s clothing and accessories store in Shorewood, demonstrating impressive financial management skills.

Liz Sumner is a Milwaukee County Supervisor and Fox Point Village Trustee, Chair of the County Finance Committee, small business owner, and was born and raised in Milwaukee. She earned her undergraduate degree from Marquette University, and an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. With her public service leadership, private sector experience, and deep education background, Liz is dedicated to promoting fiscal health and transparency in Milwaukee County.

Sumner lives with her family in Fox Point, where her children attend public schools. They are members of Congregation Shalom.
