MEQUON -Wisconsin Assembly District 24 voters want their representative in Madison to listen to their needs and to work creatively to serve them. In announcing his candidacy today for the Special Election called for July 18 for the 24th Assembly District, Bob Tatterson, a Democrat, presents his real-world experience as a business leader and proven problem solver in a clear contrast between himself and his announced competitors.

“I have the knowledge and skills based on many experiences to make the 24th District the best place to live, work and raise a family in the state,” said Tatterson. “As a research and development engineer I solved complex open-ended problems every day. As a business leader I know how to listen to all constituents, organize for action, make tough investment decisions and get things done efficiently. I have analyzed opportunities and championed investments that have created hundreds of jobs.”

Sharing some of his many experiences, Tatterson continues, “As a volunteer firefighter, I have literally run into burning buildings, so I know when you have to take action. As a hands-on volunteer community leader I have made an impact through my service to education, the environment, and the arts and sciences.”

Tatterson’s core beliefs and legislative agenda contrast sharply with the rhetoric and actions of the Republican-dominated State Assembly. “Voters in the district want transparency in government, and I believe all voters should have a true choice in selecting who represents them,” said Tatterson.

On taxes Tatterson is clear. “I fully support lower taxes, but for all . We must reduce taxes by making the government more effective and efficient, collect taxes that are due and reduce the record budget surplus to a normal “rainy day fund’ level.” Tatterson fully supports Governor Evers’ 2023-2024 budget proposal which would both lower the state income tax by 10% for every family earning less than $150,000 and return more shared revenue dollars back to communities to support local schools, police, fire and EMS services. Tatterson added “I also support Governor Evers proposal to expand property tax relief for veterans with disabilities and eliminate the personal property tax levied on businesses.”

Billions of dollars leave Wisconsin every year to pay for the energy we need. “Increasing Wisconsin’s energy independence and protecting the environment are both possible” Tatterson continues. “We need to take legislative action to encourage the harnessing of Wisconsin’s natural energy resources with proven and economical solar, wind and biomass technologies.”

As a father of two, Tatterson is a champion of education. “Our best investment for the future is in access to a quality education for all”, he said. “Recent investments in our public schools have delivered results, but there is more to be done to improve this and make schools safe. Deeply engaged students at all levels yields tomorrow’s Wisconsin workforce and prosperity for all.”

“As my campaign progresses through the summer you will have the opportunity to learn more about me and why I am the best choice to represent you in the 24th Assembly District.”

The 24th District encompasses Grafton, Germantown and portions of Mequon and Menomonee Falls. Tatterson is seeking input from the District’s residents and encourages public input at www.BobTatterson.com.

Bob Tatterson lives in Mequon, Wisconsin with his wife and two children. He advises and invests in Wisconsin-based innovative business startups and serves on several nonprofit boards and advisory councils as well. Before retirement from the corporate world, Tatterson led research and new product development at several large corporations after working earlier as a chemical engineer. He holds BS and PhD degrees in Engineering from The Ohio State University and the University of Michigan.
