WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, released the following joint statement on the forced repatriation of People’s Republic of China (PRC) national and human rights lawyer Lu Siwei to the PRC from Laos.
“We strongly condemn Mr. Siwei’s forced repatriation and call on the CCP to confirm Mr. Siwei’s location and well-being, and to allow him access to a lawyer. These actions show how the CCP’s repressive tactics extend beyond the PRC’s own borders. We will not stay silent in the face of continued transnational repression by the CCP and call on them to end such practices immediately.”
