WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Mark Pocan (WI-02) released the following statement after voting against final passage of the $886 billion FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill he has never voted in favor of since being elected to Congress:

“Time and time again, Congress seems to be able to find the money to fund defense contractors while simultaneously ignoring the needs of everyday Americans here at home. It is impossible to justify the nearly $1 trillion price tag when the Pentagon just recently failed its 6th audit in a row. We must stop rewarding failure year after year. While I’m pleased this bill does not include many of the bigoted policies that were included in the House-passed version in July, it is still a bloated bill that fails to address the Pentagon’s continued inability to responsibly manage taxpayer dollars.”

The FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act passed the House with a vote of 310-118 and now heads to President Biden’s desk for his signature.
