Summer is in full swing and there are plenty of opportunities to get your children involved in fun and free activities throughout the City of Milwaukee before school starts in the coming weeks. “Milwaukee is rich with opportunities for our young people. Great organizations throughout the city have stepped up in a variety of ways to offer meaningful opportunities,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “Taking part in organized activities was important to me as I was growing up, and I want more young people to enroll in positive programs that are available now.”

There is something for everyone. Get involved, be active and have fun.

“I am having such an amazing summer with the Journey House Construction and Design Academy Internship. I built furniture and a large storage shed. The architect and construction tours were amazing. The best part of my summer was going to Washington DC with 30 Journey House scholar leaders. It was so much fun! I love Journey House!” – Kyrea, Rising Junior High School Scholar Leader

We encourage youth and their families to check out their nearest UNCOM center and get involved. The United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee (UNCOM) is a unique resource collaborative dedicated to strengthening the lives of Milwaukee’s urban families. We work with neighborhood organizations to provide services and create opportunities that empower individuals and build strong interdependent communities. This collaboration of eight tightly affiliated neighborhood centers empowers UNCOM to combine its forces, to advocate for systematic change, serve as a trusted communication conduit for community residents, and build cases for strategic government and private investments in programs and institutions that help build strong and healthy families, accelerate prosperity, and make our city better for all residents.
