Green Bay, Wis. – UW-Green Bay is offering a new Project Management Certificate Program in cooperation with UW-Milwaukee. Effective project managers are invaluable to companies, organizations and other enterprises to ensure a smooth process and successful outcomes.
Courses will be taught by instructors with industry and academic experience in a hybrid format that combines online study with scheduled virtual sessions. Courses are interactive and instructor-led, including recorded presentations, reading/writing assignments, quizzes and online discussion. Courses start February 6 and run through June 17, 2023. It is possible to earn the certificate in twenty weeks.
“Demand for project managers is expected to outpace demand for other occupations,” said Christopher Ledvina, UW-Green Bay Business Development Specialist, “As I meet with regional business leaders, project management training is a need I hear mentioned most often. We sought a solution to address the need.”
Seven core courses are required to earn the certificate with more offered, so flexibility is built-in. There is also a PMP® Boot Camp, which counts at two courses. Courses cover the essentials of staffing, communications, cost analysis, systems and more:
Project Management Foundations — Success in project management demands a structured, systematic approach to projects. Develop the core tools and techniques for each phase: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing. Gain a working foundation to better plan and control a variety of projects in your organization. Recommended first class.
Estimating, Scheduling & Managing Project Performance — Through case studies and hands-on practice, examine each step involved in estimating time, resources and costs for budgeting and project scheduling. The elements of the planning phase of a project are critical to its execution and control. Learn how to accurately track performance throughout the project’s life cycle using valuable metrics.
Managing Project Risks — Review tools and processes that help mitigate risk and increase quality as companies demand products and services faster and cheaper. Understanding and managing risks in delivering quality products are key to customer satisfaction.
Critical Thinking: Business Analysis and Decision-Making Strategies — Sharpen your skills by becoming more aware of your own thought process and the thought processes of others. Learn techniques to foster critical thinking through probing and reflecting. Enhance skills in structuring an argument, judging the credibility of a source and making better decisions. As a result, you become more effective in analysis, communication and leadership.
Managing Project Scope and the Impact of Change — You are about to kick off a project. The scope and budget are set – or are they? This project is too important: you need to keep a good handle on it to ensure the team members don’t squander their hours away. Take an in-depth look at each step involved in estimating time, resources and costs for budgeting and scheduling a project.
Empower Project Teams: Facilitating Communication and Collaboration — Teams that can communicate, collaborate and cooperate provide the foundation of successful project and product delivery. Get the core tools and techniques to ensure timely delivery of information to stakeholders. Develop your ability to collaborate and influence without authority, creating a positive work environment that leverages roles and responsibilities.
PMP® Boot Camp: Intensive Test Prep Plus Study Strategies and Tools — For anyone who is preparing to take the Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® exams, this 35-hour course provides students with an in-depth study of knowledge areas covered in the “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge®” (PMBOK®), PMP® Exam Content Outline and Agile® Practice Guide as they relate to the three domains of project management. The course provides a context for traditional, agile and hybrid approaches to the project life cycle. The course focuses on the knowledge required from the multiple resources required to implement a PM framework and to complete the exam.
