UW–Madison’s La Follette School of Public Affairs is convening public policy experts and policymakers for several engaging events this spring.

  • February 22, 6 p.m.: Former Speaker of the HousePaul Ryan will serve as the La Follette School’s 2023 Journalist in Residence. As part of his visit, he will discuss our nation’s most pressing policy issues during an hour-long public event. The public presentation will feature a Q&A with La Follette School Director Susan Webb Yackee, where Yackee will ask Ryan a number of pre-submitted audience questions. Submit a question for Speaker Ryan.
  • March 1: Our annual La Follette Forum: All Policy is Implementationwill focus on how implementation and delivery of public services impacts the public’s trust in government. Leaders across sectors and levels of government will discuss how levels of government can collaborate effectively on substance abuse issues, how to bring underrepresented communities into the implementation processes, and a reflection on responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, among other topics. Andrew Card, former White House chief of staff, and Melissa Harris-Perry, political commentator and former MSNBC host, will serve as keynote speakers.
  • March 29, 7 p.m.: NPR White House correspondent and PBS contributor Tamara Keith will join us for our annual Offner Lecture to share lessons learned during her career as a journalist.
