[Madison, Wis.] – The Wisconsin Cable Communications Association (WCCA) is excited to announce SB 325 was signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers today. Thomas E. Moore, Executive Director of WCCA, released the following statement highlighting why SB 325 will benefit Wisconsin residents:
“This legislation makes crucial updates to the state’s broadband grant program that will help close Wisconsin’s broadband gap. This crucial legislation was also a true bipartisan win for Wisconsin, with leadership shown by Gov. Evers and bill authors Sen. Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) and Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer).
“As I stated in my testimony for this legislation, Wisconsin’s communication technology sector has invested tens of billions of dollars to make broadband available to 93% of state addresses – including 99% of urban locations. These changes to Wisconsin’s broadband grant program coupled with more than $1 billion in federal deployment support coming from the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, Wisconsin now has a real opportunity to close the digital divide for our residents.” -Thomas E. Moore, Executive Director of WCCA
