The Wisconsin Assisted Living Association (WALA) thanks Governor Evers for his 2023-25 biennial budget proposals that would help assisted living providers. WALA believes the
Governor’s recommendations are an important first step toward helping with the workforce crisis and reforming Wisconsin’s Family Care program. WALA is looking forward to working with the legislature during the budget process.

“Assisted living providers are continuing to struggle as a result of the workforce crisis and
increased inflation,” stated Michael Pochowski, President & CEO. “We are grateful that
Governor Evers’ proposals would help address the workforce crisis and provide funding to
support the Family Care Rate Setting Initiative. As assisted living facilities are shutting their
doors all across the state, these investments are vital to ensure elderly individuals and those with disabilities receive quality care and services.”
