MADISON – Following the historic high turnout in the February primary election, Wisconsin Conservation Voters is proud to announce our next slate of endorsements and to launch our biggest spring program in the organization’s history ahead of the spring election on April 4.

Wisconsin Conservation Voters endorses the following candidates:

Wisconsin Supreme Court

Judge Janet Protasiewicz is the candidate who knows Wisconsin values – hard work, fairness, and integrity. She’ll decide cases based on the facts and the law. The balance of the Wisconsin Supreme court will be decided on April 4. It’s imperative the court does not fall into the hands of MAGA extremists who care more about their personal agenda than the people of Wisconsin.

State Senate District 8

Jodi Habush Sinykin has spent her career as an advocate for clean water. As an environmental lawyer, there is nobody more qualified to go to Madison to protect the people and places that we hold dear. This special election in the suburbs north of Milwaukee is an opportunity to flip a seat, break the GOP supermajority and reign in anti-conservation, anti-democracy forces in the senate.

Local endorsements

Protecting democracy and the environment begins at the local level, and Wisconsin Conservation Voters is endorsing a slate of local candidates who will fight for a brighter, cleaner, and more equitable Wisconsin for all of us:

Patrick Hayden, Appleton City Council District 7

Jonathon Hansen, De Pere City Council District 2

Amanda Salazar, Sheboygan City Council District 3

Angela Ramey, Sheboygan City Council District 5

Grazia Perrella, Sheboygan City Council District 7

Julie Konik, Sheboygan City Council District 9

Kelly Gallaher, Village of Mount Pleasant Board President

Travis Yanke, Village of Mount Pleasant Board Trustee 1

Kim Mahoney, Village of Mount Pleasant Board Trustee 3

Doug Oitzinger, Marinette City Council Ward 3

Tom Karban, Marinette City Council Ward 8

Cindy Boyle, Town of Peshtigo Board Chair

Cindy Baur, Town of Peshtigo Board Supervisor 1

Randy Schroder, Town of Peshtigo Board Supervisor 2

These candidates join our slate of endorsed mayors who protect our democracy and exemplify local leadership on climate action:

Satya Rhodes-Conway, Mayor of Madison

Cory Mason, Mayor of Racine

Eric Genrich, Mayor of Green Bay

“These candidates share the values the state’s conservation voters hold dear,” Deputy Director Seth Hoffmeister said. “From local advocates in Mount Pleasant who continue to fight for their community against the Foxconn debacle to the state’s highest court and a crucial state senate district, these endorsed candidates represent what our organization and members are all about: making progress on issues like clean water, clean energy, and safeguarding our freedom to vote.”

Our largest spring independent expenditure program ever

With so much at stake this election, Wisconsin Conservation Voters Independent Expenditure Committee (IEC) will be talking to thousands of voters across the state about candidates who support a clean environment and a healthy democracy. Last fall, Wisconsin Conservation Voters IEC ran the largest independent canvass program in the state, and this April we are on track to do it again.

Beginning immediately, Wisconsin Conservation Voters IEC canvassers will be talking to voters throughout Dane County and Senate District 8, asking voters to support Judge Janet Protasiewicz and Jodi Habush Sinykin.

“Wisconsin Conservation Voters IEC has raised $875,000 to knock on a total of 85,500 doors in this first phase of our spring program, and we expect to expand that in the coming weeks,” Deputy Director Seth Hoffmeister said. “We know this strong start will set us up on firm footing for pro-conservation, pro-democracy candidates to win in April.”
